Sk8 Gr8 Designs offers a highly personalized service. Dresses are created for every theme and type of program. We produce truly custom dresses; created for each skater, using the program music, body type, coloring, considering likes and dislikes, along with direction from coach/choreographer and the skater measurements. We do not carry standard sized dresses or any dress inventory.

How long will it take to get a custom figure skating dress? Do you have a spot open?
Sk8 Gr8 Designs works on a first come, first serve model. We are currently running about 12-13 weeks out from the date of the design session. Late winter and early spring are peak months, and I recommend getting the 50% deposit in as early as possible. We always have a spot open, we never close the queue of dresses. During non-peak months, the process ranges from 5 to 7 weeks depending on the the number and complexity of the dresses in the production queue.

I encourage originality! A custom figure skating dress means you get to tailor a dress exactly to your needs. While we can certainly use a dress as inspiration, let's discuss how we can make it uniquely your own. I know you don't want to go to a competition to find a competitor wearing the same dress!

How much does that dress cost?
I design based on the budget given to me by the client. If a Sk8 Gr8 Designs dress inspires you, we can discuss how we can incorporate some of the design elements into a dress that meets your budget while being appropriate for your athlete's age and level. Sk8 Gr8 Dresses include a design session, unique fabric selections, patterns made exactly to your athlete's measurements, sewn and embellished in the USA. I use only the best quality, name brand rhinestones, and all competition dresses are decorated.

Absolutely, have it down to a science! I'll send a document with the measurements I'll need, and I'll ask for photos of the measurements being taken. If a number looks off, or I see the tape measure isn't where it should be, I'll let you know how to correct and ask for a re-do. The dress is also shipped for a fitting before it is finished and rhinestones are applied. I'll send a document with questions about the feel of the dress, and ask for photos or a Skype session. Many repeat customers are long distance clients.

As a designer, I understand that we all are inspired by the world around us. While we can use a dress as a starting point, I do not replicate another designer's dress exactly. Chances are, you'll want to improve upon the dress to work with your body type, coloring and program.
